Cancer cells from human tissues can be isolated from surgical specimens, expanded and treated in vitro using chemo/radiotherapy. If a cell based model is able to resemble the therapeutic response of the corresponding patient, it is possible to use it as a predictive model.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are lipid bilayer-delimited particles produced by almost all types of cell. They are involved in many physiological phenomena and seems to be key players in oncogenesis and disease progression.

Medicine is constantly evolving. New technologies for the characterization of biological information allows to continuously produce high volumes of data.  To close the gap between laboratory and patients, medical bioinformatics is applied to the identification of significant information and consequent clinical contestualization.
